Terms of use

Last updated August 2026

By using FreeFileTools you agree to the following. If you do not, please do not use the site.

1. The service

FreeFileTools provides free file conversion tools that run in your web browser. There is no charge, no account and no subscription.

2. Your files stay yours

You keep all rights to any document you process here. We claim no ownership, licence or interest in your content. Because conversion happens on your device, we never receive it in the first place.

3. You must have the right to use the files

You are responsible for having the necessary rights to any file you process — whether you own it, or have permission to handle it. Do not use these tools for anything unlawful, including infringing copyright, processing material you are not authorised to hold, or circumventing technical protection measures.

4. No warranty on conversion quality

The tools are provided "as is". File format conversion is inherently imperfect: formatting, fonts, layout, tables and images may change, and some documents will convert poorly or not at all. Each tool page describes its known limitations, and those descriptions are part of what you are agreeing to here.

5. Keep your originals

Always keep the original file. Converted output should be checked before you rely on it, delete anything, or send it onward. Converted files exist only in your browser and are released after 30 minutes — we cannot recover them, and neither can you once they are gone.

6. Availability

Availability is not guaranteed. The site may be unavailable, changed or discontinued at any time, without notice. Tools may be added, altered or removed.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload or attack the site or its hosting.
  • Use automated systems to hammer the site in a way that degrades it for others.
  • Republish the site as your own service.
  • Interfere with how the site is delivered to other people.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FreeFileTools is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, including data loss, lost or corrupted documents, conversion errors, or business losses. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

9. Site content

The site's own design, text and code belong to their respective owners. The tools are built on open-source libraries, each used under its own licence. Your documents are, again, yours.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting it.

These terms are a reasonable starting point for a small free utility site. They are not legal advice, and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction before the site operates at scale or carries advertising revenue.
