How to convert PDF pages to JPG

What "rendering" a page means
Converting a PDF page to an image is not extraction — it is drawing. The page is painted onto a canvas at the resolution you choose, exactly as a PDF reader would paint it on screen, and that canvas is saved as a JPG. The consequence is that resolution is a choice you make at conversion time, not a property of the file. The same page can produce a small preview or a large printable image.
The other consequence: text becomes pixels. The output looks identical but is no longer text in any meaningful sense. Nothing can select it, search it or read it aloud. That is fine for a thumbnail and wrong for a document someone needs to use.
Picking the right resolution
- Low — thumbnails, list previews, quick visual checks. Small files, soft text.
- Standard — the usual answer. Crisp on screens and in email, reasonable file size.
- High — printing, or when someone needs to zoom into fine detail such as a diagram or a signature. Files can be several megabytes per page.
Converting a long document at high resolution is memory-hungry, since each page is held as a full bitmap before encoding. On a phone, convert the pages you need rather than all of them.
When an image beats a PDF
- Putting a page into a slide deck, where PDFs do not embed cleanly.
- Posting a page to social media or a chat app that will not preview a PDF.
- Using a diagram or chart inside a document you are writing.
- Making a cover thumbnail for a download link.

Can I convert only certain pages?
Yes. Choose "Selected pages" and enter them as 1-3, 5, 8-10. One image is produced per page.
What resolution should I pick?
Standard suits screens and email. High is for printing or zooming into detail, and produces noticeably larger files. Low is for quick thumbnails and previews.
Why is the background white and not transparent?
JPG has no transparency. Pages are drawn onto white first, which matches how the PDF would print. For transparency you would need PNG output.
Can I get the text back out of these images?
Not from the images — the text becomes pixels. If you need editable text, use PDF to Word on the original PDF instead.
How do multiple pages arrive?
A single page downloads as one JPG. Several pages are bundled into a ZIP, with each image named after its page number.
